What can you pour out for Him? What treasure do you possess that you might ‘foolishly’ expend in worship of Him? Break the jar. He’s worth it. Fill the house with the fragrance of your offering to Him.

What we do with our time–and how we do it–are the important questions, it seems to me. God has created us within the limits of time and space, and no doubt expects us to do something with the time and space we’ve been given. Thankfully, we don’t have to wonder what that is, because the scripture is clear on the matter: we’re to love God with all we are, and love our neighbor as much as we love ourselves.
This is a high calling. And it should be, because we’re created in His image to bring Him glory. He hasn’t left us alone, though. The promise of Romans 5:5 gives us hope in His power at work within us. “God has poured out his love into our hearts by the Holy Spirit, whom he has given us,” Paul writes. His love enables and empowers us to return our love to Him, and to love those around us.
When does this happen? Today. Now. You and I are in possession of no other time than that which we pass through, now. And even that is not ours to keep; it slips suddenly and irretrievably into the past.
Love now, as those called and created to bear His image. Be fearless in your love, because you know that it is “his power that is at work within us” (Ephesians 3:20), and not our own.
